Adult Classes
Adult Ballet
Ages 18 & Up
Our adult program is designed for dancers who wish to begin, return to, or deepen their study of classical ballet in a thoughtful and supportive environment.
Our adult students range from complete beginners to highly experienced dancers continuing serious training. Classes emphasize strong technical foundations, musicality, coordination, and strength-building appropriate for adult bodies.
Whether you are stepping into a studio for the first time or returning after years away, the CDS adult program offers a welcoming community and a place to continue growing at the barre.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need experience to start?
Many adult students begin with no prior ballet training at all. Adult classes are structured to build technique progressively, allowing dancers to develop strength, coordination, and understanding step by step. We have different levels to meet you wherever you are in your dance journey.
What should I wear?
Whatever you’re comfortable moving in! Many of our adult students wear leggings and athletic tops. Others wear leotards and tights, although this is not required. You can add warmups, skirts, legwarmers as desired. The most important thing is that you are comfortable.
What kind of shoes should I wear for ballet?
Ballet shoes will be the most comfortable option. They offer the appropriate amount of grip on the floor, while still allowing the foot to glide easily. There is also slight padding on the ball and heel of the foot to cushion the releve and landing from jumps. Split sole or full sole are both allowed, in either canvas or leather – whichever option you prefer. For a first time trial, you can take the class in socks before deciding whether to invest in a pair of ballet shoes.
What kind of shoes should I wear for hip hop?
We recommend clean, white soled sneakers. These should be shoes reserved only to be worn inside, so that the special Marley floor we dance on in the studios remains undamaged.
I want to try a class, what's the next step?
