Once students have mastered the basics of ballet they are ready for more comprehensive training. Classes are based on American Ballet Theatre’s National Training Curriculum, focusing on precise technique and proper alignment. Through their continued studies, students have built their strength and stamina and are able to attempt more complex movements. In the second semester of this level, if a student is strong enough, they may be permitted to begin learning pointe work. No student goes on pointe until appropriate strength and stability are achieved. Students have the opportunity to participate in The Nutcracker, Spring Benefit and the June Concert.

Following their introduction to pointe work in the previous level, students begin to train in classes dedicated to pointe work after their regular ballet classes. This slow introduction ensures adequate strength and alignment are maintained to avoid injury. For the first time Ballet 4 students can participate in the Spring Benefit and continue to develop their performance skills. They also perform in the June Concert.

Classes for Ballet 7-10 challenge students to focus on developing proficiency in technique, including expanding their knowledge of ballet history and terminology. In addition to continuing to refine their classical technique, students are encouraged to express their individuality in their dancing, especially their performance quality onstage. We strive to provide a healthy, nurturing and encouraging environment so our dancers may reach their highest potential. Students are encouraged to participate in all performances, and are required to participate in the annual 2-week choreography workshop in August that introduces new choreography for the upcoming school year.
